HAPPENINGS AT FAITH UMC
December, 2022
The week of November 21-27, 2022
Eleven Morrison Elementary School families received food from the Faith UMC Food Ministry program to supplement their meals during the week of the Thanksgiving school holiday. These families included the 13 students who are recipients of the weekly back pack snack foods provided by Faith and food insecure students in families that were identified by the school counselor. Food was provided for four families of 2, one family of 3, four families of 5, one family of 6 and one family of 9 for a total of 46 persons. Of these 46 persons, 28 were children. A total of 420 pounds of food were provided to these families. $313.52 was spent from the food ministry account for food items not donated by the congregation during our October canned food collection. Shopping has already begun to provide food for these families for the Christmas holiday break.
Collect-October Ingathering Exceeds Goal!!!
For 2022, In-gathering activity entitled Collect-October, the UMC Northwest District set a goal for churches to do one more than they did in the 2021 ingathering. In 2021, Faith UMC collected “Bucks for Books” and collected $775, which purchased 152 books. So, our goal in 2022 was to collect one more than 152 items of food.
During the month of October, we have been collecting canned food items that Faith will use in Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes for students at Morrison elementary school. WOW!!! The Faith Family outdid themselves by donating 524 items which totaled 484 pounds of food- not only ONE more but more than THREE times as many items as in 2021. Thank YOU, Faith Family.
We will be using food ministry funds to purchase additional holiday and fresh items to be added to those items you donated for the holiday food boxes..
